a little bit about me: a clogging we will go

How about another "a little bit about me" post? There is one here about skydiving and something I absolutely hate here, and a fun Halloween costume here

Did you know that I used to be a competition clogger?

(And don't you dare crack a joke about a plunger...gross...and the Mr. has already worn that joke down a million times.)

What is clogging you ask? Well, we don't use wooden shoes and the style is much different than Riverdance. Our shoes have two plates on the front and back of the shoes unlike tap shoes. And they bend in the middle.

And....well, maybe you should just see for yourself.

Back in the good old days....

So through high school and college, I spent many hours teaching, practicing with my team, and competing. Those were the days!

Do you have any hidden talents? Do tell!

˚little bit about me˚ Halloween Last Year

How about a last minute Halloween idea?

Last year, our church did a trunk or treat. There was a trunk decorating contest, and since the Mr. is not so keen an Halloween, I thought if I could get a few friends involved, he would like it a little bit more. After countless minutes of brainstorming, this is what we came up with:

UP the Movie! Do you see the shower curtains hanging off the sides as our sails? We had the Doug (the dog), Grandpa, Russell (the boy scout), and Kevin (the bird).

How did we do?

And we made a little campfire with a fan and streamers.

Instead of giving out candy, we gave out balloons. We purchased a disposable helium tank and blew up about 50 balloons for the top of our car. We gave out balloon animals too, so the kids were able to choose between a helium balloon, a balloon crown, or a balloon sword.

The kids LOVED it.

And...we won the grand prize...WAHOO!

My costume was $5.50 to make, and the Mr. wore a boy scout uniform. He was a sport to be Russell.

I bought a large yellow t-shirt from goodwill and cut out felt pieces (purchased by the yard) as the feathers.

I made the head out of a hanger, felt, and pipe cleaners.

And in the end, we payed less than it would have been to buy a bunch of candy.

So...there you have it.

Halloween...UP style.

˚little bit about me˚ Hate is a Strong Word

Enter the giveaway here if you haven't. Win the PDF pattern and materials to make this adorable little creature. Ends tomorrow at midnight!
_____________________________________________________________________________________________
I am not a big fan of the word hate. It seems to be a little too definitive. When I was little, I am sure I said things like, "I hate onions. I hate practicing piano. I hate mustard. I hate going to sleep. I hate feta cheese. I hate split pea soup. I hate you!"

The truth is, I don't hate onions, I wish I had more time to practice the piano, I really don't mind some kinds of mustard, I love going to sleep, I love feta cheese, and I have tasted some really good split pea soup. Oh...and I love you too!

So.
Most of the time I try to use the word dislike instead. Because really, what are the chances that I will learn to like something. Pretty high right?

Well, there is one thing in my life that I HATE!

That's right folks. Soggy bread.

(This pictures is literally making me sick. And I know you think I'm joking...but I'm not. Does anyone have a trashcan?)

I literally gag if I ever have to touch soggy bread. Poopy diapers? No problem. Soggy bread? Get me outta there!

So, my kids (when I have them...eventually) better not put their half eaten sandwiches in the sink to sit and bloat....

Uck. I think I need to be done now.

Is there anything that you hate. Like really really hate?

˚little bit about me˚ Would you like that?

How was your long Labor Day weekend? Ours consisted of playing in a lake that was so dried up that the water line was well below the marked off swimming area. Thank you Texas drought. Oh how we need rain. Like really bad. We came away with zero pictures, a sunburn, and a happy memory in our brains (and maybe a little sick bug--I'm feeling a little under the weather today).

On the bright side, the temperature dropped to 62 degrees last night and it was only 90-something today. It is amazing how 90-something feels completely refreshing when you are coming from 108. Texas summers.

Anyway...

I was just wondering if you (my dear readers) would enjoy a couple a ˚little bit about me˚ posts every now and again? I don't know. Just some fun random facts?

Would you like that? Not sure? How about an example?

When my two older brothers graduated, they each got to pick some extreme sport to try with my dad. I think one of them went paragliding and other other went skydiving (don't quote me on that though). When I graduated, I wasn't about to let my dad forget about his tradition, so I went skydiving--and I loved it. The scariest part was riding up in the rickety plane. I am sure the chances of us crashing the plane were way higher than any injury inflicted from skydiving. Although, I was the last person to jump out of the plane and the first to land. Which means that I fell further than my two friends before my parachute opened. Apparently my jump master (as they like to call them) pulled our parachute and it was tangled. He did some fancy twisting and it finally opened all the way. Of course I was oblivious to the whole thing until we landed safely.

Would I go again?

Yup. For sure.

Except that I got a little carsick after our parachute was pulled and we were doing all sorts of fancy tricks in the air. I'm one of those girls. The Mr. had to learn that early on in our relationship. But that's for another time.

So there you have it. A ˚little bit about me˚ post. Do you want some more?

Let me know by clicking on the little link below that says "candid reactions". Cause that's what we do around here. And while I'm asking favors, click on the follow button on the right sidebar if you haven't already.

It'll make my under-the-weather day.
