˚cleaning tip˚ Clogged Drains

I really hate clogged drains. They are annoying and the thought of junk trapped in the drain kind of grosses me out. But this stuff is pretty toxic and expensive:

(Not to mention the fact that you have to use almost the whole bottle for one fix.)

Lame!

I thought I would share a cheap, non-toxic way to unclog drains. FYI: This does not work on really really clogged drains, but it works great for slow draining drains, and as a occasional remedy to prevent clogged drains. (Just do it every time you clean your bathroom and you will never have to use a plunger in the sink. Gross!)

Thats right folks. Vinegar and baking soda. just pour about 1/4 c. baking soda down the clogged drain and add about 1/4 c. vinegar and watch it bubble. You might have to do it twice, but even still, this remedy is cheaper and less toxic.

And, there are about a million other things that vinegar and baking soda do well, but more on that to come later!

Happy Unclogging!

  1. Seriously who knew! I might do that on my drains since there are no disposals in oz...and I still put stuff down my drains! Shhhhhh

  2. Baking soda and vinegar work right for me too. Sometimes, I do the petroleum jelly and plunger method too, but only for mild cases of clogging. For heavier clogging, I’ve got no choice but to call the plumbing service to help me.

  3. Property does require maintenance. It cannot be optimum level on its own; there has got to be intervention. Yet sometimes, in the case of drainage pipes, the fault may be in the planning and layout of the drainage system itself. Cleaning won't be enough in this case. It is therefore important to check back on this to ensure that it is working properly as it should.

  4. “FYI: This does not work on really really clogged drains, but it works great for slow draining drains, and as a occasional remedy to prevent clogged drains.” – Take note that is a preventive measure. So, if you’re drain is heavily clogged by, for example, a handful of hair strands, you should not depend on this remedy to work. This is more like drainage maintenance. Informative, nonetheless.
